2005 Midwest Multisport DUATHLON Series Races

Spartan Duathlon
5k Run - 20 Mile Bike - 5k Run
05/01/05
This is the inaugural event for Nick Langer and his crew. The race venue is located just over the Minnesota State Line in Somerset, Wisconsin. The opening 5km run is going to be flat and fast which will keep the pressure on the runners to try and open up a gap on the "bikers". The bike is not quite as easy. Like most of Wisconsin it will have a number of rolling hills. After completing the bike leg you will run the same run course but in the opposite direction.

6k Run - 30k Bike - 4k Run
05/22/05

This race again kicks off the Midwest Multi-Sport Series. The opening 4km run has a 0.8km stretch on pavement before heading off road. The remainder of the run takes place on the Orono Middle School grounds and is a mixture of grass and trail. The 30km bike segment is on smooth county roads. The rolling hills loop you around Baker Park Reserve and through Medina before returning to Orono Middle School. The second run leg exits the transition area and follows the same off road path as the first run. This race is great for those looking to do a multi-sport event but who are not quite ready for the challenge of an open water swim.

5k Run - 33k Bike - 5k Run
05/28/05
This race was the duathlon national championship in 2000 and still is one of the best races you could ever attend. This year it features new distances. There is a single 5km run loop which is primarily in a residential community that is mostly flat but does begin with a challenging hill. The bike course has both hills and perfectly flat sections., but your challenge will likely be the wind on the rural bike course. You will repeat the opening run for the final leg of the race.
